What’s more fun than moving with a 17 month old?

I’m not sure, but I’m guessing…. almost anything!

So here’s the story.  Recently our building was sold to a new owner.  So far, he’s been great.  They’re doing some work on the place, have been very responsive, their maintenace guys are awesome.  No complaints.  Said they had no intention of raising our rent.  I’m good with all that.

Well, yesterday we get a notice that they were planning on fumigating our building with “lethal gases.”  Yeah.  Ok, uhhhh I have a very small person living here.  I don’t know about you, but I don’t think just leaving the windows open for 24 hours is enough to get all the “lethal chemicals” out of every fiber in the carpet, couch, chairs, curtains, walls, cabinets, furniture, etc, ad NAUSEAM.

“Studies have found no appreciable risks…”  blah blah blah, bullshit bullshit.  Then you let YOUR kids lick the walls afterwards.  Mark and I have spent too much time raising a healthy child with hopefully fewer chemicals.  I have no intention of letting someone ruin that in a matter of days.

Currently we stand at this:  we’ve told them it is not in any way acceptable.  We won’t sign the required documents, and we won’t vacate the premises when the company gets here.  They can evict us if they want.  That will give us 30 days.  We are on the lookout for another place to go.  Damnit, if it comes down to letting them fumigate, or moving with a 17 month old… Let’s MOVE, baby!
