Catalina, 5th Anniversary! The offical update.
This will probably be a long one, so don’t be surprised if I finish it in Part 2 tomorrow.
Well, we had a 4:15 Friday boat over, and that was pretty uneventful. It was Mina’s first boat trip, and she did great. We snacked a little on our way over and walked around the deck a bit, but that was it.
Once we got to Avalon we checked into our hotel (Hotel Metropole) and dropped our luggage in the room and got a little cleaned up for dinner. The room was nice. Big enough, with a king sized bed, fireplace (that didn’t get used) a little table with chairs which was great to put a little space between us and Mina. Bathroom was fine (J- tub was nothing worth mentioning.)
Walked around town for a while trying to figure out what to have for dinner. Ended up at Casa de Pollo Furioso for dinner. Mina and I had the Citrus Chicken… which I would not recommend. For which reason I will expound upon now.
Fast forward through a little more walking around Avalon. Back to the room. Jammies, milk, brush teeth, bed. Mark and I sit quietly and wait for Mina to fall asleep - about 8:30 or so. We finally fall asleep. 2am, she starts to cry. No big deal. I walk over there to calm her down and get her back to sleep. I give her her pacifier, move her back to the middle of the crib (she likes to migrate to the corners and gets stuck there and pissed off) at which point she projectile vomits. All over the crib and my hands. And then again. And again. I pick her up. Again.
Get her wiped up, get the icky jammies off her. Again. Again.
So for about half an hour or so, she kept puking.
[Bullhorn] Attention all swimmers in the pool, please evacuate the pool immediately! We must have ALL SWIMMERS out of the pool.
*chaos*
Every time we tried to lie her back down, she’d cry and then puke. Eventually, she’d stopped puking, but wouldn’t go to sleep, so we ended up putting her in the stroller and walking around Avalon til 4:45am. At which point, she fell asleep.
In other circumstances, that would have been great to bring my camera with me. Avalon was *deserted* - well almost. We found a few couples here and there tucked away in corners, one or two people standing around looking lost (drunk) and oddly…. more than one set of clothing. Yes. In the middle of the sidewalk.
Anyway, she fell back asleep, slept a few more hours and got up her usual chipper self. We took it easy on her tummy for the next day, but she didn’t have any more problems and has been fine since. Yeah. Won’t be going back there.
Ok, I think that story was enough for now. You’re going to have to wait til tomorrow for more!
