The end is near!
Oh right, sorry. I mean the end of my cold. I feel quite a bit better today. I know you’ve been waiting for days to hear me say that. I’ll still have some residual snot (no, thankfully its not botulism. Snotulism, maybe.)
Mark and I, as we do every year, have been watching le Tour religiously. It’s nice to be able to skip through Versus’ very frequent commercials. Phil Liggett is the Vin Scully of cycling. These two, the commentators who do the live broadcast are fantastic. They can just sit and spew statistics and information about all the riders, the terrain, the history of the sport and the Tour. And, they can pronounce the names of the towns which the Tour is riding through. In contrast, listen to the two American commentators who broadcast the recap later in the day.
I was concerned that the Tour would be less interesting now that my boyfriend Lance has moved on. I’m glad to say it isn’t. You should tune in and take a gander – there’s carnage, and drama, and well, tears. I’ve still got a soft spot for Team Discovery Channel. Frankly, I won’t claim to know what their chances truly are, but I’m still hoping.
